A clickable demo is an interactive walkthrough of a product that a viewer advances themselves, screen by screen, in a browser.
The complication is that designers use almost the same phrase for something else entirely, and the two get confused in conversations where it matters.
In sales and marketing, a **clickable demo** is a capture of a product that already exists — real screens, recorded from the live application, shown to prospects who have not signed up.
In design, a **clickable prototype** is a set of mockups wired together in a design tool. It looks similar and it is the opposite artefact: one shows what is, the other shows what might be.
One question answered, five to eight steps, a caption per screen saying what it means rather than naming it, and a clear next step at the end.
It should not open on a login screen, and anything a viewer has to read should be zoomed into — demos are watched at a fraction of the size they were recorded at.
A browser extension records your product as you click through it, capturing each screen and the click position. Nothing is installed into the product itself, so there is no engineering ticket and it works on products you do not own.
Demorta's free plan covers 5 demos with unlimited viewers and no card, which is enough to find out whether this does anything for your product before deciding.
Click through it — the same kind of demo you can record of your own product.
Record your first interactive demo free.
Five demos on the free plan, forever. No credit card, no trial countdown, no sales call. Install the Chrome extension, click through your product once, and you have a shareable link in about ten minutes.
