Demo automation means replacing part of the manual work of demonstrating a product with something reusable.
The awkwardness is that vendors use it for two quite different things, and they suit different companies.
The first is **self-serve demos**: a recorded, interactive walkthrough anyone can watch without you, replacing the repeated live demonstration. This is what most small and mid-sized software companies mean, and what Demorta does.
The second is **demo environment automation**: tooling that spins up and resets fully working product instances with seeded data for salespeople to demonstrate live. That is aimed at enterprise sales organisations with dedicated demo engineers, and it is a much larger and more expensive category.
The repetitive opening of a sales call, the same support explanation typed again, the walkthrough given to every new hire, and the fifteen minutes of orientation before a conversation can start.
It does not remove the sales conversation itself on a complex deal, and any vendor claiming it does is describing a market they are not selling into.
Self-serve demo tools range from free tiers to enterprise contracts; Demorta starts at $15.99 a month and has a free plan covering 5 demos with unlimited viewers.
Demo environment automation is priced for enterprise and generally involves a sales process. If the published price is "contact us", you are looking at the second category.
