Switching From Supademo to Demorta

August 28, 2026

Supademo is a good product, and most people asking about this are not unhappy with it — they are looking at the bill, or at a tier jump they cannot justify.

Here is the honest version of what switching involves, starting with the part most vendors bury.

Nothing imports. You re-record.

There is no importer. Demo tools do not share a format, and a captured demo is screenshots or serialised markup plus positioning data that only means anything inside the tool that made it. Anyone promising a one-click migration between these products is describing something that does not exist.

What that costs in practice: a five-to-nine step demo takes about ten to fifteen minutes to record and caption from scratch. Three demos is an afternoon. If you have forty, this is a real project and worth pricing honestly before you start.

The re-record is not entirely a loss

Most demo libraries contain a lot of drift — steps showing UI that shipped over, captions written for a positioning you have since changed, flows nobody watches to the end.

A forced re-record is the audit you were never going to schedule. In practice teams end up publishing fewer demos than they had, which is usually the correct number.

What actually changes day to day

  • Recording works the same way -- a Chrome extension, one step per click.
  • HTML demos are available on every plan here, including free, rather than starting on a $350/mo tier.
  • Seats -- Growth includes 2 rather than bundling 5.
  • Branching, quizzes and lead capture exist here on Growth and above.
  • No AI suite. Supademo has one and this does not, which is a real difference if you use it.

When you should stay on Supademo

If you use its AI features seriously, if you need SSO and SAML, data residency or multiple workspaces, or if you have five or more people who each need to edit demos, Supademo is the better fit and switching would be a downgrade dressed as a saving.

The same goes if your demos are stable and rarely re-recorded — the migration cost is real and there is nothing on this side worth paying it for.

A sane way to do it

  • Do not cancel anything yet. Free plans are free; run both.
  • Rebuild your single most important demo first, and compare them honestly side by side.
  • Swap the embed on one page and watch completion rate for a week.
  • Then migrate the rest, oldest first, deleting anything nobody watches.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my Supademo demos into another tool?
No. Demo tools do not share a format, and a captured demo is screenshots or serialised markup plus positioning that only means anything inside the tool that made it. Any product promising one-click migration between them is describing something that does not exist -- you re-record, which takes ten to fifteen minutes per demo.
How long does it take to switch demo tools?
About ten to fifteen minutes per demo to record and caption from scratch, so three demos is an afternoon and forty is a real project. Most teams end up publishing fewer than they had, which is usually correct -- the forced rebuild is an audit of demos that had quietly gone stale.
When should I not switch?
If you rely on an AI suite, need SSO and SAML, data residency or multiple workspaces, or have five or more people who each edit demos. Also if your demos are stable and rarely change -- the migration cost is real and there is nothing to offset it.
