Rebuilding demos in a new tool is tedious and predictable. The part that actually causes damage is everything pointing at the old ones.
A demo link lives in more places than anyone remembers, and they all break on the day the subscription lapses.
Do not cancel the old tool until the new links are live everywhere you control. One month of double billing is much cheaper than a dead demo on your pricing page for a week.
This is also why free plans matter during a migration: you can often keep the old tool on its free tier long enough to catch stragglers.
Start with the demo on your highest-traffic page, not the oldest one. Get it live, swap the embed, and confirm completion rate holds before doing any of the others.
If completion drops noticeably, the problem is your rebuild rather than the tool, and you want to know that on demo one rather than demo twelve.
Check analytics before rebuilding anything. Most libraries have demos with almost no views, built for a campaign that ended.
Rebuilding those is pure cost. A migration is the cheapest opportunity you will ever get to shrink the library to what is actually used.
Ask the old vendor directly whether published links keep working after a downgrade or cancellation, and get the answer in writing.
Some keep serving, some return an error page to whoever was already looking at your demo. That single answer decides whether you can afford a clean cutover or need the overlap.
