The Windows Snipping Tool, and Snip & Sketch before it, is a good piece of software. It is fast, it is already installed, and everyone knows the shortcut. For a screenshot you will paste straight into a message, nothing beats it.
It starts to drag when the screenshot is of a web page and needs work before it is sent -- blurring, a label, a second crop. Then you are in a separate app, saving a file, opening the file, and the fast tool has become three tools.
What the Snipping Tool does well

For web pages specifically it also captures the browser chrome -- tabs, the address bar, your bookmarks -- unless you are careful with the drag, which is exactly what ends up needing blurring.
