Sales cycles are usually measured in meetings and lost in the gaps between them. Very little of the elapsed time is spent in conversation with you.
That matters, because most attempts to shorten a cycle try to compress the meetings, which is the part that was never slow.
It removes the first calendar wait, because a prospect can see the product the day they find you rather than the following week.
It also travels. The champion stops re-performing your demo from memory and forwards something that makes the argument as well as you did, which is the single longest and least visible delay in most deals.
Budget cycles, procurement queues, legal review and a buyer waiting for a contract to lapse are unaffected by anything you show. If those dominate your timeline, this is a process problem, not a communication one.
The way to tell is to look at where a deal sits longest. If it is between your last call and their internal decision, a demo helps considerably. If it is in legal, it will not help at all.
Send a short recorded walkthrough after every first call, covering the part the prospect reacted to.
It costs fifteen minutes once, it is reusable across deals, and it targets exactly the gap where the cycle is longest — the period when you are not in the room and your champion is doing your job for you.
Click through it — the same kind of demo you can record of your own product.
