Interactive Demos for Supply Chain Software

August 28, 2026

Supply chain software earns its money by preventing things: a stockout that did not happen, a delay caught early, an order that did not ship to the wrong place.

Prevention is invisible, which is why so many demos in this sector default to a map view and a dashboard that impress nobody who works in the field.

Demo the disruption, not the steady state

A supply chain that is working is a boring screen. Open on something going wrong — a late shipment, a supplier missing a commitment, an inventory count that does not reconcile.

Then show the software noticing before a human would have. That single sequence is the entire product argument.

Show the handoffs

  • Where the data comes from -- ERP, carrier, supplier portal, a spreadsheet somebody emails.
  • Who gets told, and how, because an alert nobody sees is not a feature.
  • What the person does next, since visibility without action is the standard complaint about this category.
  • What it looks like on a phone, for the people who are not at a desk.

Use data with real texture

This audience reads operational data all day. Round numbers, tidy lead times and suppliers named "Supplier A" are spotted instantly and cost you the room.

Seed the demo with plausible SKUs, uneven quantities, realistic lead times and at least one thing that looks slightly wrong — because real data always contains one.

Answer the integration question in the demo

"Does it work with our ERP" decides these evaluations, and leaving it to a later call wastes everyone's time when the answer is disqualifying.

Make it a visible step with the other system named. If you do not integrate with what they run, they will find out anyway, and finding out early costs you a deal you were never going to win.

Frequently asked questions

How do you demo supply chain software?
Open on a disruption rather than a working steady state -- a late shipment, a missed supplier commitment, an inventory count that will not reconcile -- and show the software noticing before a person would have. That sequence is the whole product argument.
Why do supply chain demos fail?
They default to a map view and a dashboard, which impress nobody who does the job. The value in this category is prevention, and prevention has to be demonstrated through a problem being caught rather than through a screen where everything is fine.
Does demo data matter in supply chain software?
Considerably. This audience reads operational data all day and spots round numbers, tidy lead times and "Supplier A" immediately. Use plausible SKUs, uneven quantities and at least one thing that looks slightly off, because real data always has one.
