An ERP demo cannot show the product, because the product is thirty modules and an implementation project. Trying to show it all is the standard mistake and it produces a forty-minute video nobody finishes.
The realistic goal is different: get onto the shortlist, and get onto it before the scheduled demo rather than after.
Pick a single process that crosses modules -- order to cash, or a work order through to despatch -- and follow it. Crossing modules is what demonstrates that this is a system rather than several tools, which is the actual claim.
This is far more convincing than a tour of each module in turn, and it is shorter.
Manufacturing buyers have existing systems they are not replacing -- a CAD tool, a machine controller, an accounting package, a customer's EDI requirement. The question underneath every ERP evaluation is what happens at those boundaries.
A short demo of data arriving from or leaving to another system answers more doubt than any feature walkthrough. If you have integration-specific demos, this is the category where they earn their keep.
A twelve-month evaluation passes through many hands: an operations director, a plant manager, IT, finance, and eventually a board. A demo link is the only artefact that reaches all of them intact.
It also survives the six weeks between meetings, which a demo call does not. What people remember from a call in October is not what you showed.
