The hardest problem in early SaaS marketing is not writing better copy. It is that your product is invisible. A visitor cannot see it, cannot try it without committing, and has no reason yet to believe your claims about it.
Most sites respond by describing harder -- more adjectives, more feature bullets, another testimonial. That rarely moves anything, because the visitor was never short of claims. They were short of evidence.
A static screenshot answers "what does the interface look like", which is close to nobody's actual question. The real question is "what would using this be like for me, and would it fix my problem".
Screenshots also age badly and flatten your product to its least interesting moment: an empty state, or a dashboard so dense it reads as noise. The one thing a screenshot cannot show is the thing you are selling, which is a sequence -- do this, then this, and the tedious thing is done.
Ranked roughly by how much evidence they deliver per second of a visitor's attention:
The instinct is to cover everything, because every feature took work. Resist it. A visitor deciding whether to keep reading needs one complete, valuable outcome -- not a tour.
Pick the flow that best answers "what is this for", start on the screen where the value is visible rather than a login page, and stop as soon as the point lands. Four to six steps is usually right.
Nothing undoes a demo faster than Test Customer 1 and lorem ipsum. It signals that nobody real uses this, which is precisely the doubt you are trying to remove.
Populate your demo account with plausible names, realistic numbers and a believable volume of records. It costs an hour and changes how the whole thing reads.
Placement matters as much as the asset. The homepage hero answers "what is this". The pricing page answers "is the higher tier worth it". A feature page answers "can it do X". Each deserves its own short demo rather than one long demo linked from everywhere.
The other high-value spot is your sales follow-up, where a champion has to re-explain your product internally from memory. A demo link travels; their recollection does not.
Click through it — the same kind of demo you can record of your own product.
