Answer engines increasingly summarise a topic and name a few sources. Being one of those sources is valuable and only partly within your control.
This is what is reasonably established, and what is marketing dressed as method.
Whether any specific file, schema or markup causes citations. Whether citation frequency correlates with traditional rankings. How much of it is simply reputation and links.
Anyone selling certainty here is selling. The honest position is that the practices above are good writing regardless, so following them costs nothing even if the mechanism is different from what anyone assumes.
Keyword stuffing, thin pages produced at volume, and pages that are only a pitch. Those have been bad for search for two decades and there is no reason to think a language model rewards them.
Nor does claiming things you cannot support. A model that surfaces your claim next to a contradicting source has damaged you rather than helped.
This is a long game with no dashboard. You cannot reliably measure AI citations today, which means you cannot optimise the loop the way you can with search.
Write for the human reading it and structure it so a machine could quote it. That is the whole method, and it is the same work.
