Interactive Demos for Implementation and Consulting Partners

August 21, 2026

Implementation partners — the firms that configure a CRM, an ERP or a platform for a client — deliver a working system and then face the part nobody scoped properly: getting a whole organisation to use it.

That is a training problem, and it is where recorded demos do the most work per hour spent.

Demo the client's configuration, not the vendor's product

The vendor's own training material shows the vendor's default setup, which is not what your client has. That mismatch is why generic training gets abandoned within a week.

A demo recorded against the client's actual configuration, with their fields, their names and their process, is the material they will use — and only you can make it.

One demo per role, not one per system

  • The everyday user, doing the one thing they will do fifty times a day.
  • The manager, approving and reporting.
  • The admin, adding a user and changing a setting -- which is what stops them calling you in month three.
  • Anything you customised, since no vendor documentation covers it and you will otherwise explain it forever.

Guided mode earns its place here

For training specifically, making the viewer click the actual control beats letting them press Next — doing the action is what builds the habit, and this is one of the few audiences where the extra friction is the point.

That is the opposite of the advice for marketing demos, and the difference is entirely about whether the viewer has already decided to use the product.

The commercial angle

Training material is billable, reusable across similar clients with a re-record, and reduces the unpaid support that follows every implementation.

It also gives you something to include in a proposal that competitors typically do not offer, which is worth more in a pitch than another slide about methodology.

Frequently asked questions

Why record demos of a client configuration rather than using vendor training?
Because vendor material shows the vendor's default setup, not what the client actually has. That mismatch is why generic training gets abandoned in the first week, and only the implementation partner can record the real configuration.
Should training demos use guided mode?
Yes. Making the viewer click the actual control builds the habit in a way pressing Next does not. It is the opposite of the advice for marketing demos, because a trainee has already decided to use the product.
Which roles need their own demo?
The everyday user doing their most repeated task, the manager approving and reporting, and the admin adding a user or changing a setting -- the last one is what stops them calling you in month three. Plus anything you customised, which no vendor documentation covers.
