There is a real difference between a free plan and a free trial, and the credit card is where it shows up.
A trial requiring payment details is a subscription you have agreed to and postponed. A free plan is a plan.
Enough to publish something real: at least one complete demo, a working share link, and the ability to embed it. A free plan that cannot publish is a demo of the tool, not a free plan.
Analytics matter too. Without knowing where viewers dropped off, you cannot tell whether the demo worked, which means you cannot decide whether to pay.
Branding removal is almost always paid, and reasonably so -- the badge is how free plans pay for themselves. Team seats, advanced analytics, and lead capture are also normal paid features.
A free plan is not a charity, and one that includes everything is either about to change or is subsidised by something you will eventually be asked for.
Signing up for the free plan does not ask for a card, and it does not expire. It covers 5 demos, unlimited steps, unlimited viewers, screenshot and HTML capture, editing and blurring, embedding anywhere, and basic analytics.
What it does not include: Demorta branding stays on the demo, and narration, branching, quiz steps and lead capture are on paid plans. Starter is $15.99 a month and removes the branding and the demo cap; Growth is $39.99 and adds narration, lead capture and drop-off analytics.
