The Per-Seat Cost Nobody Compares Until It Is Too Late

August 27, 2026

Every comparison of demo tools starts with the headline price, and the headline price is almost never what you pay. Seats are.

Prices below were read from each vendor's public pricing page on 27 August 2026. Pricing in this category moves often -- check the vendor before you decide, including us.

What an extra seat actually costs

  • Storylane Starter -- 1 seat at $50/mo, **+$50 per additional seat**.
  • Storylane Growth -- 5 seats at $625/mo, **+$125 per additional seat**.
  • Supademo Scale -- billed per creator at $38/mo ($50 undiscounted).
  • Supademo Growth -- 5 creators at $350/mo, **+$50 per extra creator**.
  • Arcade Growth -- **$42.50/mo per seat** ($50 undiscounted).
  • Demorta Growth -- $39.99/mo including 2 seats.

Count the people who will need one

Teams reliably underestimate this. It is rarely just the person who makes demos: it becomes two people in marketing, someone in sales who wants to personalise one, a founder who edits copy, and whoever covers when the first person is away.

Several vendors soften this with view-only collaborators, which is worth checking — Supademo lists 5 view-only collaborators on Scale and unlimited above it. A collaborator who cannot edit does not solve the "someone else needs to fix a typo" problem, though.

Agencies pay this twice

If you make demos for clients, seats multiply against your client list rather than your headcount, and per-seat pricing is usually the deciding factor rather than any feature.

Check specifically whether client access counts as a seat, and whether demos can be organised per client without one workspace each — multiple workspaces is itself an upper-tier feature at more than one vendor.

The arithmetic worth doing before you sign

Take the number of people who will need to edit a demo in twelve months, not today. Multiply by the per-seat cost on the tier that has the features you need. Compare that, not the headline.

For a three-person team that lands very differently across these products, and the ranking by headline price is not the ranking by real cost.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an extra seat cost in demo software?
As of 27 August 2026: Storylane charges +$50 per seat on Starter and +$125 per seat on Growth; Supademo charges per creator on Scale and +$50 per extra creator on Growth; Arcade is priced per seat at $42.50 ($50 undiscounted); Demorta Growth includes 2 seats at $39.99/mo.
Do view-only collaborators count as seats?
Usually not, and several vendors include them -- Supademo lists 5 view-only collaborators on Scale and unlimited on higher tiers. They do not solve the case where a second person needs to edit a demo, which is the one that actually forces a seat purchase.
Why is per-seat pricing especially important for agencies?
Because seats multiply against your client list rather than your headcount. Check whether client access consumes a seat, and whether demos can be organised per client without a separate workspace each -- multiple workspaces is itself an upper-tier feature at more than one vendor.
