Demo Titles and Link Previews

August 22, 2026

A demo link pasted into Slack, LinkedIn, an email or a proposal expands into a preview card. That card is what people decide on, not the demo.

It is also the part most people never look at, because they only ever open their own demos from the dashboard.

What the card is made of

  • The title — your demo title. "Untitled demo" is a real thing people ship.
  • The description — what the demo shows, in a sentence.
  • The domain — which affects trust, especially in outreach.
  • Three things, all decided before anyone sees a single step.

Write the title for the recipient

Not for your dashboard. "Acme — Homepage — Fleet overview" is a good internal name and a poor public title; the person receiving it does not know what Acme means to you.

Better: "See a rental contract signed in 60 seconds". Say what they will watch and roughly what it costs them.

Say the duration

A stated length converts better than an unstated one, because the unknown is what stops a click. "90 seconds" is a small commitment; an unlabelled link is an unbounded one.

This matters most in cold outreach and least on your own site, where the surrounding page already sets expectations.

Check it before you send it

Paste the link into a private message to yourself, in whichever tool you are about to use, and look at the card. That is the whole check and almost nobody does it.

Different platforms crop the description differently, so the first ten words have to carry the meaning on their own.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my demo link preview matter?
Because the card is what people decide on, not the demo. A link pasted into Slack, LinkedIn or email expands into a title, description and domain, all decided before anyone sees a single step.
What should a demo title say?
What the recipient will watch and roughly what it costs them -- "See a rental contract signed in 60 seconds" rather than an internal name like "Acme - Homepage - Fleet overview", which means nothing to them.
How do I check what my demo link looks like when shared?
Paste it into a private message to yourself in whichever tool you are about to use and look at the card. Platforms crop descriptions differently, so the first ten words have to carry the meaning alone.
