Building a Product Demo Page on Your Website

August 22, 2026

A product demo page is a page on your site whose only job is showing someone the product. It is distinct from a demo *request* page, which asks them to book a meeting instead.

Getting the difference right is most of the value, because the two convert completely different people.

What belongs on the page

  • One sentence saying what the product is, above everything.
  • The demo itself, embedded, below the headline rather than in the hero.
  • A next step directly under it -- start free, see pricing, or book a call, but one of them.
  • Nothing else above the fold. A demo page competing with a feature grid is a feature page with a demo on it.

Demo page or "book a demo" page?

If your product is self-serve, the demo page should be the primary route and booking secondary. If it genuinely sells through calls, keep booking as the main action and offer the recorded demo to people not ready to commit to a meeting.

Offering only a booking form loses everyone who wanted to look before speaking to anyone, which on a self-serve product is most of them.

Technical details that decide performance

  • Reserve the embed height with an aspect ratio, or the page jumps when it loads.
  • Lazy-load it if it sits below the fold.
  • Keep it out of the hero, so it does not become your Largest Contentful Paint element.
  • Give the page real text. A page that is one iframe has nothing for a search engine to rank.

Give it a URL people can send

A clean path like /demo is worth having: sales will paste it into emails, support will link it, and it is short enough to say out loud.

Then keep the demo behind it current. A stale demo page is worse than none, because it is the page you have been sending people to.

Frequently asked questions

What should a product demo page include?
One sentence saying what the product is, the demo embedded below the headline rather than in the hero, and a single clear next step directly beneath it. Anything else above the fold turns it into a feature page with a demo on it.
Should a demo page replace "book a demo"?
For a self-serve product, the demo page should be primary and booking secondary. If you genuinely sell through calls, keep booking as the main action and offer the recorded demo to people not ready to commit to a meeting.
Does an embedded demo hurt a demo page's SEO?
Only through page speed, and only if handled badly. Reserve the embed height, lazy-load it below the fold, keep it out of the hero, and give the page real text -- a page that is one iframe has nothing to rank.
