Interactive Demos for Pharma and Life Sciences Software

August 22, 2026

Life sciences software is evaluated by people who will be personally accountable if a regulator asks how a number was produced.

That inverts the usual demo advice: the unglamorous traceability screen is the headline, not the afterthought.

Lead with traceability

Who entered this, when, what was it before, who approved it, and can that be exported. A demo of that sequence answers the question every other question is standing in front of.

Show a change being made and the record it leaves. That single loop does more than an hour of feature explanation.

Be exact about what you claim

Compliance vocabulary is precise and misusing it is noticed immediately. Do not imply validation, qualification or certification you do not have — a captioned overstatement in a demo is quotable and damaging.

If your product supports a customer's own validation rather than arriving validated, say exactly that. Buyers in this field respect precision far more than confidence.

Never record against real study data

  • Patient and subject data is the highest-consequence data in this blog.
  • Compound and formulation details are commercially sensitive to your customer.
  • Use an invented study, structured plausibly, with a deviation in it -- clean data reads as unrealistic to anyone who has run one.

Long cycles, many readers

Quality, IT, the lab and procurement all assess separately, months apart, mostly from documents. A demo link reaches each of them identically, and a PDF export covers the processes that forbid links.

This is a category where being unable to produce a document version can genuinely cost you a round.

Frequently asked questions

What should a life sciences software demo lead with?
Traceability -- who entered a value, when, what it was before, who approved it, and whether it exports. Show a change being made and the record it leaves; that loop answers the question standing in front of every other question.
How careful do I need to be with compliance claims in a demo?
Very. Compliance vocabulary is precise and misuse is noticed immediately. If your product supports a customer's own validation rather than arriving validated, say exactly that -- a captioned overstatement is quotable and damaging.
Can I demo using real study data?
No. Patient and subject data is the highest-consequence data involved, and compound details are commercially sensitive to your customer. Use an invented study, structured plausibly, including a deviation -- perfectly clean data reads as unrealistic.
