Accountants are an unusual demo audience: they read the figures on your screenshots, and they notice when a total does not match the rows above it.
A sloppy demo does more damage in this category than in any other, because carelessness with numbers is exactly the thing they are evaluating you for.
If your demo shows a ledger, the balances must be consistent across every screen. If a dashboard says £48,210 and the report on the next step says £48,000, you have told an accountant something about your product that you did not intend.
This is the one category where seeding a demo account is a genuinely careful task rather than a quick one. Budget the time.
Nobody chooses accounting software because onboarding is pleasant. They choose it because month-end or year-end is painful, and that is the moment to show.
Reconciliation, a VAT or tax return, a year-end pack. Show the part that is currently costing them a weekend.
A duplicate invoice flagged, a mismatched payment surfaced, an unreconciled item chased. Accountants trust software that finds problems more than software that looks tidy.
This also demonstrates the product doing real work on messy data, which is what their books will be, whatever your demo account looks like.
