A remote demo is a harder performance than an in-person one. You cannot read the room, your audience has email one keystroke away, and any silence feels like a connection problem rather than a pause.
The structural advice for demos still applies. What follows is the part that is specifically about doing it through a screen share.
Whole-screen sharing broadcasts your notifications, your other tabs and whatever you open by accident. Share the single browser window you are demoing.
Enable Do Not Disturb anyway. Window sharing does not stop an OS notification banner from appearing over it.
Your attendees are watching a compressed video stream, often on a smaller screen, sometimes on a phone. Raise browser zoom to 125-150% before you start.
This looks absurdly large on your monitor and correct on theirs. Trust it.
In person, people follow your hand. On a screen share there is lag and no shared physical space, so a click that arrives before the explanation loses everyone for the next thirty seconds.
Say what you are about to do, then do it. "I am going to approve this invoice, which is where the finance team usually gets stuck" -- then click.
Nobody interrupts a screen share unprompted; it feels rude and the mute button makes it effortful. Silence is not agreement, it is disengagement you cannot see.
Ask direct, answerable questions by name. "Sarah, is that close to how your team handles it today?" beats "any questions so far", which reliably gets nothing.
Remote attendees retain less, are more likely to be multitasking, and are more likely to need to re-explain your product to someone who was not there.
A recording rarely helps -- few people watch forty minutes back. An interactive demo of exactly what you covered does, because it is skimmable and forwardable, and each stakeholder can look at the part they care about.
