Every other kind of demo records what the product does. An AI demo records what the product did once, and quietly implies it will do that again.
That gap is the whole problem, and buyers are now primed to look for it.
The temptation is to generate until you get a perfect output and record that. Everyone in your market has now been burned by a demo like that, and the disappointment lands after signup, which is the expensive place for it.
Record a run you would be comfortable being judged on typically. If the median output is not good enough to demo, the demo is not the problem.
AI features are slow in a way most software is not, and a demo that cuts straight from prompt to result sets an expectation the product cannot meet.
Show the loading state as a real step. It is honest, it manages expectation, and a visible "thinking" state is something buyers now expect to see rather than a flaw to edit out.
Technical buyers evaluating AI features ask this within two minutes. A caption answering it pre-empts a whole email exchange.
If you cannot say, say that instead. Silence reads as evasion in this category specifically.
A slightly imperfect AI demo with a visible edit step outperforms a flawless one, because the flawless one is indistinguishable from a mockup and the audience has stopped assuming good faith.
This is one of the few places where showing the product being a bit awkward is the more persuasive choice.
