Agencies get the pricing of this category wrong more often than anyone, because the usual mental model — "how many of us are there?" — is the wrong question.
Seats multiply against clients, demos multiply against projects, and a tool that is cheap for a five-person startup can be the largest line in your software budget.
Prices checked on each vendor's own pricing page on 27 August 2026. They move often -- confirm before you buy, ours included.
The four questions that decide it
- Does client access consume a seat? If a client reviewing a demo needs one, your cost tracks your client list.
- How many demos can you publish? Agencies hit demo caps long before seat caps.
- Can demos be organised per client without a separate workspace each? Multiple workspaces is an upper-tier feature at more than one vendor.
- Can you hand a demo over when the engagement ends, or does it die with your subscription?
What the seat maths looks like
- Storylane -- +$50 per seat on Starter, **+$125 per seat** on the $625/mo Growth tier.
- Supademo -- billed per creator on Scale ($38/mo, $50 undiscounted); Growth bundles 5 creators at $350/mo, +$50 each. View-only collaborators are included, which helps if clients only need to watch.
- Arcade -- priced per seat outright at $42.50/mo ($50 undiscounted), so the cost is linear and predictable.
- Demorta -- $39.99/mo Growth includes 2 seats, unlimited demos, HTML capture. Ours, and disclosed as such.
View-only collaborators are the lever
Most client access is review, not editing. A vendor that gives you view-only collaborators for free turns a per-client seat cost into nothing, which is often the single biggest saving available.
Ask specifically what a view-only collaborator can do — if they cannot comment or approve, you will end up buying seats anyway.
Demos as a deliverable
The strongest agency use of this is not internal. It is selling the demo itself: a walkthrough of the client's product they can put on their own site, refresh each quarter, and pay you to maintain.
That changes the tool decision — you want per-client organisation, easy handover, and a cost per demo low enough to keep margin on a retainer.
Frequently asked questions
- What should an agency look for in demo software?
- Whether client access consumes a paid seat, how many demos can be published, whether demos can be organised per client without a separate workspace each, and whether a demo can be handed over when an engagement ends. Seat count for an agency tracks the client list, not headcount.
- Which demo tool is cheapest for agencies?
- It depends on how you handle client access. As of 27 August 2026, Storylane charges +$125 per seat on Growth, Supademo bills per creator with view-only collaborators included, and Arcade is $42.50 per seat. If clients only need to watch, a vendor with free view-only collaborators removes most of the cost.
- Can agencies sell interactive demos as a service?
- Yes, and it is the strongest use of the category for them -- a walkthrough of the client's product for their own site, refreshed quarterly on a retainer. That shifts what matters in the tool toward per-client organisation, clean handover, and a low enough cost per demo to keep margin.
